The Goleta West Sanitary District was formed in 1954 under the Sanitary District Act of 1923. It derives its authority in the California Health and Safety Code Sections 6400-6830. For decades Goleta West Sanitary District has provided award-winning service in wastewater collection and treatment for our customers – the citizens and businesses of Western Goleta Valley and Isla Vista.

The Isla Vista Community Services District aims to improve the resources available to the community, ensure a high quality of life and level of public safety, and provide a local voice to the people of Isla Vista. The District will work to prioritize community engagement as it delivers localized public services and maximizes the resources available to the community.

The Isla Vista Foot Patrol is a unique station in that deputies and officers patrol the area primarily on foot or bicycle due to the large student population that live in this vibrant and compact community.

All Redevelopment Agencies in the State of California, including the County of Santa Barbara Redevelopment Agency in Isla Vista IVRDA, were eliminated on February 1, 2012, pursuant to ABX1 26 the “Dissolution Act”. On January 10, 2012, the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors directed the County to become the “Successor Agency” to the former IVRDA. As such, the former RDA’s assets and liabilities are now under the control of the County.
